In this paper,the characteristics of plasma discharge in packed bed dielectric barrier discharge?DBD?and the thermal effect of the discharge are studied,and the combination of DBD and catalyst for the production of hydrogen from methanol steam reforming was further studied.It was shown that the plasma thermal effect plays an important role in the synergistic process.In this experiment,the electrical and emission spectra of packed bed DBD were diagnosed.From the electrical diagnosis,it was concluded that after filling the catalyst,the discharge state changed,the total capacitance increased,and the power factor increased with the increase of input power.Compared with empty-tube discharge,the discharge current in packed bed was more uniform.From the emission spectrum diagnosis,it was found that the dielectric barrier discharge in packed bed was lower in N2 rotation and vibration temperature than in empty tube discharge.The N2 rotational temperature increased with the increase of input power,but the N2 vibration temperature showed the opposite trend.The thermal effect of dielectric barrier discharge led to the temperature rise of gas and reactor.The catalytic synthesis of hydrogen from methanol steam reforming by self-heated of packed-bed dielectric barrier discharge?DBD?and catalyst was studied in this paper.At first,the self-heating dielectric barrier discharge plasma was used to catalyze methanol steam reforming to produce hydrogen,and catalysts were screened out.The pure DBD plasma,catalysis and DBD plasma were compared for methanol steam reforming to produce hydrogen.The results showed that the combination of DBD plasma and catalyst had synergistic effect,the conversion of methanol was larger than the sum of pure DBD plasma and catalyst,and the main products were H2 and CO2.The direct liquid feed catalytic methanol steam reforming for hydrogen production was further investigated.The results showed that the methanol conversion decreased with the increase of the feed flow rate and the methanol conversion increased with the increase of the input power.
