Neurons are the structural foundations of the neural circuits,it is important to understand the fine structure of neurons and the connections between them.Reconstruction of mesoscopic neurons can provide a data foundation for neuroscience research.Due to the complex morphological structure of mesoscopic neurons,it takes time and efforts to obtain the morphological data,which requires accurate and efficient reconstruction methods.However,the existing methods of reconstruction are inadequate,which cannot give attentions to both the quality of reconstruction results,reconstruction efficiency,and reconstruction cost and is difficult to meet the needs of neuroscience research.This paper proposes a semi-automatic method for reconstructing neuron morphology based on Browser/Server mode.The method is to put data,tasks,and calculations on the remote server,and the user can reconstruct neuron morphology at the browser end,which can support long-distance reconstruction,and then improve the efficiency of reconstruction and reduce the cost.This method can centralize the management of reconstruction information,such as distributing missions and collecting data automatically,which lead to reduce the difficulty of information management compared to manual way.In addition,this method provides strategies of back-to-back reconstruction and multi-layer inspection,and reduces influence of personal factors of one annotator on the accuracy of reconstruction results,which ensures the quality of reconstruction results and satisfies the needs of neuroscience research.To verify the availability of this method,this paper implements a reconstruction tool of the method--Online Reconstruction Tool.This tool covers all aspects of the Browser/Server pattern semi-automatic reconstruction method.Using this tool,this paper obtains three morphology results,and finds that these results have higher accuracies and can satisfy the needs of neuroscience research.Using this tool to get the reconstruction elapse time of each results,we find that this method improves the efficiency and reduces the cost.Finally,we conclude that the semi-automatic reconstruction method based on Browser/Server mode is suitable for neuron morphology reconstruction,and can efficiently provide data available for brain research.
