In order to detect and recognize the underwater targets,we combine the polarization characteristics of light with Laser detection technology.Compared to traditional intensity detection, the new technology can detect deeper underwater targets and overcome the interference of underwater noise. It's a precise and high-speed detection method. The inspiration for designing this technique is when study the polarization properties of light, found that due to different target surface structures, composition materials, and surface roughness, the polarization of reflected light is different. We can distinguish the underwater target according to this feature.Combined with photoelectric detection technology, the polarization degree is measured by the method of dividing amplitude. The photoelectric detector receives an electrical signal rich in polarization information. After processed by the signal conditioning circuit, use the special data acquisition chip ADuC831 to sample and send the data to the upper computer. Finally, the software of the upper computer set up by LabVIEW is programmed to store, process and display the data.According to the above theoretical design, the detection system has been preliminarily verified in the laboratory. In the same depth, detect three targets such as iron, plastic and water grass. It is found that the degree of polarization of iron is greater than that of plastic and water grass.Targets can be distinguished according to their degree of polarization. After deepening the probe depth, the conclusion is still valid. And the detection depth has very little effect on the polarization properties of reflected light. The theory is entirely feasible, meet the initial detection requirements. But still need more field experiment,to get more polarization of the target. So we can establish a polarization database for underwater targets.Enhance the identification capability of the detection system.
