Taxonmic Revision Of The Fern Genus Polystichum Sect.Lasiopolystichum Daigobo And Polystichum Sect.Haplopolystichum Tagawa From China

Based on observation of specimens in herbarium and living plants in the field,as well as observation of the spore micromorphology under SEM and optical microscope,the genus Polystichum Sect.Lasiopolystichum Daigobo and Polystichum Sect.Haplopolystichum Tagawa from China were taxonomic revised.Added and revised some plates.The taxonomic treatments are as follows:(1)Polystichum frigidicola H.S.Kung et L.B.Zhang and P.saxicola ex H.S.Kung et L.B.Zhang were treated as the synonyms of P.nigrum Ching et H.S.Kung;(2)P.habaense Ching et H.S.Kung was treated as the synonym of P.moupinense(Franch.)Bedd.;(3)The result does not support the treatment that P.lichiangense(Wright)Ching ex H.S.Kung as the synonym of P.shensiense Christ in Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae.P.lichiangense should be recongnized a separate species;(4)P.yadongense Ching et S.K.Wu was treated as the synonym of P.prescottianum(Wal.ex Mett.)Moore;(5)P.oblanceolatum L.B.Zhang was treated as the synonym of P.liui Ching;(6)The difference between P.houchangense Ching ex P.S.Wang and P.consimile Ching is extremely smal,treating the former as a synonym of the latter;(7)P.mulunense X.L.Shen & R.H.Jiang was treated as the synonym of P.guangxiense W.M.Chu et H.G.Zhou;According to our study,it was found that the morphology of scales on the back of the pinnaes is not so scientific and reasonable of the genus Sect.Lasiopolystichum Daigobo.At the same time,the importance of the stipe base scale for species delimitation was also overestimated.The plant size was highly variable in some widely distributed species and should be valued during the study.The morphology of laminae and pinnle,and scale color should be given more attention.It was found that there was a significant variation in the angle between the pinna and the laminae axis of the genus Sect.Haplopolystichum Tagawa,which was an unstable character.Even in the same laminae,the angles of the pinnaes and the laminae axis were different.At the same time,it was also found that the morphology of pinnule and the location of the sori were relatively stable,especially the morphology of pinnule.Based on this study,the author defined the scope of Sect.Lasiopolystichum Daigobo and Sect.Haplopolystichum Tagawa distributed in China,revised the keys,and the classification of some species was discussed.
