The Distortion Of Yi-ology And The Breakthrough Of Chinese Traditional Mathematics

Since the eastward transmission of western sciences from late Ming dynasty,the knowledge and ideological system between Chinese and western countries exchanged,collided and integrated,which had brought the context of knowledge and thoughts into a new universal time.Under the influence of the route of academic mission,western scientific and technical knowledge constantly were introduced into China through science book-translation form,and of all the books,natural science books took up the most affection because of the three main characteristics:attachments of the actual measurement and logical positivism;reasoning based on mathematics;logical reasoning.From then on,Confucian scholars gradually accepted the theory of Spherical Earth in western astronomy,paid much attention to linking the traditional textual research methods and western logical positivism methods,especially tried to use western Euclidean geometry method to construct his own philosophy system.Confucianism,as the core of Chinese traditional culture,gradually formed into Qianjia textology in Qing dynasty,which was characterized as seeking truth from facts and doubting without believable signs.The heyday of Qianjia textology,known as the source of western learning,began from 1736 to 1820.At that time the heat wave of Qianjia textology had shown signs of ebb.On the one hand,the Confucian scholars reshaped the Qianjia sinology tradition-to excavate and restore the lost Confucian classics studies of Han dynasty as the main academic orientation,on the other hand,they paid more attention to its value orientation.The research object of this thesis Jiaoxun was a member of the right time(1763-1820).The following questions are urgently needed to answer:why did Jiaoxun choose Zhouyi?What were the mathematical principles to support him to choose Zhouyi and how did mathematics take the role in connecting.west and East?In order to explain Zhouyi,what were his efforts and attempts?What was his philosophical appeal?After years of searching for his grandfather’s question with a fruitless answer,he was more determined to realize the determination of Zhouyi.Under the influence of Elements of Geometry,he had interpreted many mathematical books,and put forward many mathematical ideas:rationality is nature;conception first,method second;reasoning first,modality second.He obtained the derivation of the two core elements of Zhouyi,Yanshu and Yongshu,by mathematical calculation.He used the mechanical dialectical logic and formal logic deductive method,with the help of Pangtong and Shixing,Dangwei and Shidao,Xiangcuo and Bili,Involution and Tianyuan,Qitong and Bili,Jiajie andZhuanzhu,formed the nucleus conception of Zhouyi,that was flexibility,between the second Yao and the fifth Yao,in order to explore the intrinsic mechanism movement between the sixty-four Gua and three hundred and eighty-four Yao,not constrained by Han Yi and Song Yi.His thoughts was in the place of the explanation for Zhouyi by Fuxi,Wenwang,Zhougong,and Confucius,and he self-described himself as the only one person after them.His aim was to expound his conception,using divination pursuing enlightenment,by Zhouyi.Fuxi became a saint instead of God.In Yi*s system,Jiao Xun reduced the theism idea of heaven and earth as "thing",that was,atheism idea everything had rank and order.With the intervention of mathematics,inductive thinking and the elements of the metaphysics of Zhouyi were erased,and his idea,borrowing the method of measuring the sky to Zhouyi,was realized.His new interpretation of Zhouyi also unconsciously had been driving it to the verge of being deconstructed,so his interpretation of Zhouyi was in the contradictory condition,maintaining or destructing the tradition.He mainly used Permutation,Combination and Involution,turning Yin and Yang and Parity of Zhouyi into the abstract diagrams of Jia,Yi,Bing and Ding,which already had a feature of logical thinking enlightenment.Zhouyi,which was constructed by the abstract theory,could be calculated,and it also deviated from the research paradigms of Song Yi’s metaphysics and Taiji-Wuji theory.Everything was supported by mathematics,and truth no longer depended on argument;it was self-evident.The speculative cosmology based on the study of Confucian classics faced a threat and challenge of deconstruction.
