Poaceae, also known as the grass family,is a compendium of flowering monocot species.Members of the family include staple food crops, plants for grazing animals, and vegetation that gives rise to a variety of terrestrial habitats. For this reason,Poaceae is an excellent family for studying the drivers of species diversification, richness endemism, and habitat specialization. In this study,we reported the de novo assemblies of leaf transcriptomes from seven pasture grasses, including Agropyron desertorum,Agropyron cristatum,Agropyron cristatum x Agropyron desertorum hybrid,Bromus inermis,Elymus dahuricus,Leymus paboanus and Leymus secalinus. We completed transcriptomes sequencing from seven grasees with Illumina/Hiseq 2000 sequencing platform. In total, about 43 billion clean reads were assembled into 1,940,729 unigenes(mean length = 249 bp;mean N50 = 621 bp),among which 491,671 unigenes contained coding sequences.Further analyses revealed 37,490 gene families and 153,868 simple sequence repeats for all seven species. The orthologous gene analysis with these species yielded a phylogenic tree. The additional comparative analysis uncovered 7,708 unigenes in these seven species, which contain characteristic domains of the known resistance genes.Taken together, the seven pasture grass transcriptomes will not only help investigate the evolution of the grass of Poaceae, but also provide useful gene resource for the understanding of grass biology.
