In industrial production,adding grain refiner is the most effective,practical and economical method of aluminum and its alloys grain refinement.Compared with the widely used Al-Ti-B grain refiner in industrial production,Al-Ti-C grain refiner's refining property is more excellent.However,the poor performance of Al/C interface wettability.mass transfer and TiC synthesis during the process of preparation are greatly restrict the industrialization development of Al-Ti-C grain refiner.This research has successfully preparaed the Al-5Ti-0.25C grain refiner,and verified its refining performance,by applying ultrasound field to the aluminum melt,the ultrasonic standing wave and cavitation effect promote the wetting of the Al/C interface,strengthened the mass transfer,therefore synthesized TiC.The research contents are as follows:1.Designed the water model experiment under ultrasonic field,observing the motion law of polystyrene particles in water and water/metal interface wetting behavior.The results showed that:the particles directionally moved to the nodal under ultrasonic standing wave,ultrasonic cavitation occurred in the water under strong ultrasonic field,ultrasonic field can improve the water/metal interface wettability.2.The Matlab simulation of aluminum alloy ultrasonic cavitation in the melt.Concluded the law of ultrasonic cavitation under different conditions by changing ultrasonic sound pressure values?ultrasonic frequency?the initial cavitation bubble radius and gas polytropic index respectively.The results showed that:larger values of sound pressure,lower ultrasonic frequency,as well as lower melt temperature,are advantageous to the ultrasonic cavitation on the premise of guarantee the cavitation effect.3.Applyed ultrasonic standing wave field to the preparation of Al-5Ti-0.25C grain refiner,measuring the microstructure evolution process of the alloy under different heat preservation time,analysing the mechanism of TiC synthesis.At the same time,the prepared refiner was used for the refining experiment to test refining property.Results showed that the ultrasonic standing wave and cavitation effect can promote Al/C interface wettability and strengthen the mass transfer,thus TiC can be synthesized under the condition of low temperature.The refining performance of the prepared Al-5Ti-0.25C grain refiner was excellent.
