Study Of Terrestrial Animal Resource And Diversity In Dongting Lake Wetland

The line-transect method has been used to investigate the resource and diversity of terrestrial wildlife animals during the units of second national wildlife animals investigation in Dongting Lake(186)and midstream of Changjiang River(184)in Hunan province on 2 Jan to 30 Aug in 2015.The whole investigation region within an area of km2 has been randomly set into 24 squares which the length of each side is 10 km.205 lines have been investigated in total and the whole length is 1025 km.Total 49373 terrestrial wildlife animals which belong to 229 species,71 families,27 orders has been investigated.We have recorded that 12 species of amphibians are accounting for 5.24% in terrestrial wildlife animals;18 species of reptiles are accounting for 7.86%;180 species of birds are accounting for 78.60% and 19 species of beasts are accounting for 8.30%.In order to discuss the resource,diversity and distribution characteristics of terrestrial animals in different seasons,based on the results,we analysed the components and distributions in these four divided areas of Dongting Lake.In addition,the residence type of birds needs to be discussed.Total 12 recorded species of amphibians and reptiles which belong to4 families are order of Anura.Hoplobatrachus chinensis investigated ineast Doingting Lake are second class national protected animals.Amphibians investigated in east and south Dongting Lake are relatively plentiful.18 recorded species of reptiles belong to 5 families,3 orders in south Dongting Lake and Datong Lake are relatively plentiful.In the part of birds,84 species of passeriformes accounted for 46.67%,32875 individuals accounted for 67.11% and 96 species of non-passeriformes accounted for 53.33% have been investigated.Among them,18 speices of anatidae accounted for 10% have been recorded.Total66 species of resident birds accounted for 36.67%,33 species of summer birds accounted for 18.33% and 59 species of winter birds accounted for36% have been recorded as well.Also,47 species of passing migrants accounted.During this investigation in Dongting Lake,there are total 3 species of first class national protected animals and 20 species of second class national protected animals.30 recorded animals have been listed in CITES appendix Ⅰ and Ⅱ.
