Agriculture is the foundation of the national economic and social development of industry,and the country's one of the important strategic industries.At present,along with our country social and economic development to a new stage of agricultural production and rural economy and great changes have taken place.With the constant development of China's agriculture,the agricultural water resources shortage of contradictions are increasingly highlighted.Agricultural water shortage has become after the cultivated land factors restricting the development of agriculture in our country for a long time.The development of water-saving and high-efficiency agriculture can effectively save land resources and reduce the workload of irrigation and water conservancy construction.It can promote agricultural production,increase farmers' income,improve agricultural economic efficiency,and speed up the development of agricultural modernization.At the same time,it is also beneficial to national food security,ecological security and water resource security,it is conducive to the sustainable development of agriculture and rural economy in the future.This paper is to study the development of water-saving agriculture in Wuwei city of Gansu Province as the breakthrough point,through the investigation of Wuwei city agricultural water-saving irrigation area,water-saving irrigation technology,water-saving crops economic situation,combined with literature research of domestic and international development trend of water-saving agriculture,the necessity and importance of the development of water saving agriculture in Wuwei which is located in arid and semi arid region of Northwest China.Finally,summed up the deficiencies in the development of water-saving agriculture in Wuwei City,the methods of popularizing water-saving agriculture is presented,based on this,puts forward some relevant policy suggestions and prospects for the future development of water-saving agriculture,to guide water-saving agriculture to achieve maximum benefit.The main results are as follows:1)Water saving promotion area of Wuwei city current stable at around 2 million500 thousand mu,accounting for only 37.8% of the total arable land;the area under film drip irrigation technology promotion reached 480 thousand mu,accounting for about 6% of the total arable land;Ridge Film furrow irrigation accounted for 24.5%and other water-saving technology accounted for 7.3%.It shows that the proportion of high efficiency water-saving extension area is extremely low.2)Drip irrigation,furrow,ridge film film,the whole film double ridge ridge,semimembranous flat,fertilizer integration technology are currently the main water saving technology of Wuwei city,and other modes of water-saving technology is still relatively short.3)Corn,cotton,sunflower,chili,vegetables as the main crops in Wuwei City,the use of water-saving irrigation technology is obviously effective to increase their economic benefits.Among them,in the film under drip irrigation technology,the efficiency acres section as follows: cotton > edible sunflower > melon > pepper.4)Compared with the traditional film subsurface irrigation,the integrated irrigation with water and fertilizer can increase the production efficiency of tomato and pepper economically.Among them,the per mu yield of tomato increased by 8.3%,and the yield of pepper increased by 7.6%,and the water saving rate was above 45%.Integration of water and fertilizer technology should be the mainstream technology for increasing economic crops in Wuwei.
