In recent years, more and more enterprises announced mentoring policy and set out to carry it through, and the mentoring is increasingly attracting the attention of scholars. In addition to formal mentoring appointed by organization, informal mentoring relationship between mentor and protégé plays a unique role in organization as a more flexible, voluntary form.Unlike formal mentoring, only the mentor has willing to mentor others, the informal mentoring can be formed, therefore, the willingness to mentor of potential mentors play an important role in the process of the formation of informal mentoring.Usually, mentors are senior employees, senior staff are very busy in dealing with their own task, however, mentor others must have enough time and effort.Supervisor’s temporal leader behavior help subordinates(the senior staff with the ability to mentor others)to better grasp time,Thus, there is a question: does temporal leadership affect subordinates? willingness to mentor? If yes,how does temporal leadership influence the willingness?this paper explored the influence mechanism of temporal leadership on subordinates ?willingness to mentor.Specially, based on planned behavior theory, this paper explored the mediating effect of engagement,leader-member exchange(in brief,LMX)and time pressure.By Drawing on the data surveyed from 152 employees work more than three years by two times, this study tests the hypotheses. The results shown that:(1)task oriented temporal leadership and relationship oriented temporal leadership positively related to subordinates’ willingness to mentor;(2)engagement totally mediates the relationship between task oriented temporal leadership and subordinates’ willingness to mentor;engagement partly mediates the relationship between relationship oriented temporal leadership and subordinates’ willingness to mentor;LMX partly mediates the relationship between relationship oriented temporal leadership and subordinates’ willingness to mentor; The main contribution of this study about the above problems is as follows:(1)we find that temporal leadership have positive effect on willingness to mentor.we verify the mechanism of two dimensions(task oriented and relationship oriented)on subordinates’ willingness to mentor,It shows that temporal leadership can promote those senior subordinates to mentor others.Extending the researches about the antecedents of willingness to mentor;(2)Based on Planned Behavior Theory,we also explored the The mechanism of temporal leadership on subordinates’ informal willingness to mentor. The engagement,LMX,time pressure are corresponding to the three aspect(attitude toward the behavior, subject norm, perceived behavior control)of planned behavior theory. We verified mediating effect of engagement,LMX and time pressure, which deepens our understanding of the influence of temporal leadership to subordinates? willingness to mentor.this study provides some suggestions: First of all, temporal leadership plays an important role in employee’s willingness to mentor others, therefore,in dealing with time perspective problem of task, the supervisor should give the subordinates guidance and take subordinates? idea into consideration, and subordinates should be given feedback in time;Second, subordinates’ engagement and LMX are important factors affecting the subordinates? willingness to mentor others, supervisor should improve the subordinates? engagement and quality of relationship with subordinates, creating a good environment for subordinates to mentor others.
