The Great Power Game Behind China’s Central Asian Oil And Gas Pipeline

With the continuous development of China’s economy,China’s demand for energy continues to increase,resulting the imbalance in China’s energy resources mining and supply is growing.Specifically,the external dependence of China’s oil and natural gas continues to rise and the import of oil from the Malacca Straits accounts for about 4/5 of the total amount of imported oil.China’s imports of oil and gas resources are dependent on the Straits of Malacca.Once the Straits of Malacca have problems,then China will be affected directly.Therefore,the onshore oil and gas pipeline becomes an important energy supply supplement.In the continental oil and gas pipelines,the transportation of the Central Asian oil and gas pipelines in the northwest direction takes up a large proportion.Therefore,this paper reviews the present situation of oil and gas resources in central Asia.After analyzing the disintegration of the Soviet Union,the development strategy of the energy producing countries in Central Asia is analyzed.Along with the end of the cold war brought by the political window of the big powers,some powers have also entered the Central Asian region to fill the power vacuum.The forces in some countries have been scrambling for oil and gas resources in Central Asia,and proposed plans for the construction of oil and gas pipelines in line with their own interests.During the construction of the oil and gas pipelines,foreign powers implemented different energy strategies,and launched the energy game in central Asia.In the construction of oil and gas pipelines and the scramble for oil and gas resources in Central Asia,different countries have achieved different results according to their own game advantages and disadvantages.This paper focuses on China’s energy strategy in Central Asia,and the achievements made in the construction of oil and gas sources and oil and gas pipelines in china.However,China has some problems in the game of energy in central Asia.In Central Asia,Russia has a deeper historical base than China,and the United States has entered the Central Asian energy game earlier,relying on the strong strength of multinational corporations.In addition,China faces the threat of non-traditional security in Central Asia,and individual states in Central Asia are hostile to china.This paper presents several effective solutions,including strengthening the "Belt and Road Initiative" initiative,join the multilateral international organization and establish a peaceful rising image.
