With the gradual increase in the number of online gamers in China and the continuous rise in the output value of online games,the peripheral products of online games in China are beginning to usher in a new wave of development.Many gamers,in addition to consuming online games,have also thrown their eyes on the peripheral products of online games.These peripheral products,derived from online games,are the concrete manifestation of symbols in the game.There are unusual consumer meanings for consumers.According to Baudrillard's theory of symbolic consumption,the formation of a symbolic consumption society further illustrates that people pay more attention to the symbolic value of the product rather than the product itself when they consume the products.The symbol gives the new connotation to the products,The interaction between consumers and product symbols creates meaning and thus gains new feelings and values.Based on the studies of semiotics,communication science and symbolic consumption,on the one hand,through the literature review and observation method,this paper expounds the development of online games,the development and symbolic features of the peripheral products of online games.On the other hand,through in-depth interviews exploratory research,excavates the consumer's symbolic sense and symbolic consumption connotation towards the peripheral products of online games,and deeply understand the symbolic interaction between consumers and their peripheral products.In addition,from the perspective of symbolic consumption connotation of consumers,the process of symbolic production,consumption and communication of peripheral products are reviewed,and the thesis is going to give corresponding constructive suggestions on the symbolic development of peripheral products.
