Abstract/Summary:
V company is a foreign enterprise whose business includes coupling designing,manufacturing and sailing.Its customers are mainly from ship manufacturing industry and relevant researching institutions.The market requirements include manufacturing new ships and replacing old products.With the domestic labor cost rising,international marine transport market depressing,competition ability of V company rival promoting,the business environment of labor intensive manufacturing type enterprises have deteriorated rapidly.V company has similar situation because its intellectual property was infringed upon and the products was plagiarized,as the result was that V company lost competitive advantage and marketing share decreased gradually.In order to improve its competitive ability,the company has to make new inventory strategy base on lean production so as to response efficiently to the marketing share decreasing.The article presents V company general information,inventory data and executive environment.The key inventory management problems are as below:safety inventory accumulation for long time,focus on 5S management but neglect Key Performance Index,choose low cost supplier and don’t have stable supply chain.What causes these problems?The main reasons are including:MRP managing inventory,the forecasting of requirement is not accurate;workshop can’t work according to the plan because of quality issue and on time delivery;don’t make inventory KPI;single purchasing strategy,don’t make faced on customers visual record management system.After analyzing the causes of the inventory management,It makes some strategy to improve its level.The strategy includes using JIT and MRP manage inventory,making ABC classification purchasing strategy,predicting A key material by suing grey prediction,building lean supply chain,decreasing lead time of A material,making KPI of inventory management.The new inventory management strategy could predict requirements accurately,provide data supporting for MRP calculating.By using ABC classification purchasing strategy and building lean supply chain,we could improve delivery quality and OTD,and then it would be easy to improve inventory efficiency.These inventory management strategy focus on customers’ requirements,makes the variety accurately,quantity of inventory more reasonable,improve inventory efficiency.
