In order to improve the operational efficiency and enhance economic benefit, enterprises spend a lot of money to implement information systems. The usage of information system can affect the level of personal performance directly, and also determine the function of information systems in the enterprise. That means the function of information systems will not come true unless people use information systems effectively. Therefore, study the information system usage and its impact on job performance has great theoretical and practical significance. In this paper,we define the connotation of the usage of information system firstly, and then construct the measurement system of using information system.Next,we analyze the pattern of information system usage. Finally,we explore the factors which influence the job performance when people use information system. The research contents are as follows:Research on the connotation and measurement of enterprise information system usage.Based on the theory of information system usage and human behavior dynamics, the burstiness of users visiting system is used as an aspect of information system usage, and the connotation of information system is extended. We construct the measurement model mainly on three parts: the whole usage, each feature usage and the hierarchical usage of information system. And this establishes a theoretical foundation for the later analysis of system usage patterns and its impact on performance.Research on the patterns of enterprise information system usage.System usage was defined as a process that one user(subject)operated a system(object),all users can be divided based on the hierarchical level, and information system is composed of many features. An empirical analysis was conducted by using the log data of a shipyard company with 281804 computer logs. The results indicate that: system usage of all users tends to be stable and regular;each feature usage shows the obvious diversity;users at different hierarchical levels use different core features sets and show different system usage and interests in different features.Empirical study on the impact of system usage on job performance.Based on the theory of system usage and human behavior dynamics,an empirical analysis was conducted by using the log data and performance evaluation data of 100 information system users to found the impact of system usage on job performance under different measurement models, different genders and work-ages.The results indicate that: while using different definitions and measurement models of system usage, the relationship between system usage and job performance shows the obvious diversity;with the increasing of measurement aspects of system usage, the impact of frequency of system usage on job performance turned to significant;duration of system usage always has an on significant effect on job performance;system features usage always has a significant positive effect on job performance;burstiness of system usage always has a significant negative effect on job performance;gender and work-age moderating the relationship between system usage and job performance.
