A Comparative Study On Export Sophistication And Its Determinants Between China And India

In recent years,China and India as the two fastest growing economies,get a lot of attention in the global econom y.Both countries' economies and foreign trade are growing rapidly,and are actively involved in the Belt and Road,The Bangladesh–China–India–Myanmar Economic Corridor(BCIM),the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP)and other regional cooperation organizations for its developm ent,and there is said that India will soon replace China.Relative to the export scale,export sophistication can reflect the quality of a country's export products and determine its long-term economic growth.Therefore,this paper makes acomparative analysis of the export sophistication and its determinants of China and India.First of all,based on the analysis of the present situation of China and India's manufacturing export,selected export data of 205 kinds of manufacturing productsin 45 sample countries(regions)from 2006 to 2015.This paper uses Rodrik(2006)exports ophistication measurement method tocal culate the export sophistication of the man ufacturing industry of the sample countries(regions),and makes acomparative analysis of the export sophistication of China and India.From the product level,the world level of manufacturing product'sexport sophistication has significantly improved;From the industry level,as awhole,China and India's manufacturing industry export sophistication showed an increasing trend,but there is a big difference between differentindustries;From the national level,China and India's manufacturing export sophistication has improved significantly,and China's export sophistication are higher than India.Secondly,in order to explore the factors influencing the export sophistication of the two countries,combining with the related theory,this paper introduces six factors,such as technical innovation,human capital,population,infrastructure construction,foreign direct investment and financial development,through constructing the model,makes an empirical analysis on the determinants of export sophistication between the two countries.The results show that the influence of these sixdete rminants on the export sophistication of China and India is different.Finally,based on the above analysis,this paper puts forward some suggestions on how to improve the export sophist ication of China's manufacturing industryand optimize the structure of China'sforeigntrade.
