Effects Of Family Characteristics On Chinese Farmers’ Income

In recent years,the income of Chinese farmers have increased tremendously because of the rapid development of urbanization and community economy.And the three agriculture-related issues have been the focus of attention of the government,which has issued a series of agricultural policies.As a result,Chinese farmers’ household characteristics have changed accordingly.That’s why the relationship between the household characteristics and the income of farmers has become a topic worthy of study.In this paper,based on the results of existing research,focusing on the family characteristics of micro aspect,we analyze the influencing mechanism of family characteristics on Chinese farmers income from three aspects: social capital,human capital and fixed assets.A descriptive statistical analysis of rural household characteristics variables in China has been applied by selecting the countrywide household survey data with a wide range of 13 years.And then two econometric models has been built to examine the inlfuence of household characteristics on the incomes.The empirical research indicates that if the family members are familiar with any party members or leaders,or they have higher degree of education,or they spend more time working,or they possess more plowland,or they have more sources of income,then the family will earn more money.Unsurprisingly,farmers’ incomes will decrease if they have to take care of more children and elderly people.We also conclude from the empirical research results that the extent of which those household characteristics inluence the family incomes will vary differently according to the changes of the income levels.
