Along with the propoasl of sustainable development idea and a harmonious society in China,corporate social responsibility has become a direct manifestation of the progress of civilization.Food industry is the human life industry,and it is not only responsible for their own profits,but also undertakes the corresponding social responsibility.However,in recent years,the issues of food safety accidents,wasting of resources,the damage of employees’rights and interests,environmental pollution and other devoid social responsibility,not only frustrates the confidence of the public,but also hinders the sustainable and healthy development of the whole food industry.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to construct a social responsibility evaluation system and scientifically evaluate the social responsibility performance of food enterprises,and to enhance the social responsibility concept of food enterprises and build a harmonious society.This paper summarizes the research results of domestic and foreign scholars,and sums up the theory of corporate social responsibility evaluation.This paper analyzes the problems in the fulfillment and evaluation of the social responsibility of Chinese food enterprises,and puts forward the necessity of constructing the social responsibility evaluation system.Combining with the characteristics of food enterprises,this paper constructs a social responsibility evaluation system based on sustainable development,and evaluates the social responsibility of 444 food listed companies from 2012 to 2015 by using the method of entropy weight-gray correlation analysis.It is concluded that food safety is the key responsibility of food enterprises.The overall performance of social responsibility of food enterprises is not optimistic.It shows the phenomenon of slow start and slow development.From the point of view of enterprise property,state owned food enterprises fulfill their social responsibility better than private food enterprises;from the regional perspective,food companies from the North China region best perform their social responsibility,while those from Northeast region do the worst.And finally,some relevant suggestions for strengthening the social responsibility of food enterprises are given.
