As a Large enterprise based on power supply in China,TB company has some outstanding problems in product planning and management.If these problems are not solved as soon as possible,it is bound to affect the company’s future development.This thesis focuses on the analysis and discussion about the problems and reasons of TB company in product planning and management,and tries to give solutions.The theories of product life cycle and product portfolio are innovatively applied to the planning of power supply products in this thesis.Firstly,in the framework of TB company’s competitive strategy,this thesis makes a deep research on the power supply product development project distribution,the market sales status,the product planning management status and other aspects,analyses the existing problems and shortcomings through on-site observation,documentation co nsult,personnel interviews and questionnaire survey,and find out the possible reasons-lack of scientific ideas and mechanism of product planning,and discusses the necessity and feasibility of improvement.And then,under the guidance of the company’s competitive strategy,make market segmentation for the power supply market,and on this basis,a number of target markets are selected.Finally,the product life cycle theory is used to study the product planning strategy of the company,to determine the planning ideas,and make the detailed plan on the basis of the survey,to solve the various problems caused by unreasonable product planning of the company,enhancing the future competitiveness of the comp any’s products.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)Generalizing the existing literature and the research status of product management and planning,put forward a feasible way of product planning-stand in the height of the company’s strategy,through the analysis of the internal and external environment and competition situation,on the basis of market segmentation,select thetarget markets that are in line with the development of the company,then make product planning by using the product life cycle theory and BCG matrix tool,finally put into practice.(2)Based on the comprehensive analysis of TB company’s product planning and management,through personal observation,documentation consult,personnel interviews and questionnaire survey,concludes that the fundamental reason for the product portfolio planning unreasonable is the lack of scientific ideas and mechanism of product planning.(3)The product planning program should be adjusted according to the changeof internal and external environment in the process of implementation,and try to improve the execution of the staff.
