Research On The Relationship Between The Network Of Interlocking Directorates Of Private Listed Firm And Enterprise Charitable Donation Behavior

With the development of corporate social responsibility strategy research and practice,the enterprise is no longer just regarded social responsibility as the altruistic behavior of social welfare,but realized that corporate social responsibility is related to the survival and development of the enterprise itself.Under the background of emphasizing the fulfillment of social responsibility,as an important form of corporate social responsibility,corporate charitable donation has also attracted the attention of scholars and enterprises.The existing literature mainly investigates the philanthropy of enterprises from the perspective of the strategic motive of the enterprise and the institutional environment pressure outside the enterprise.There are few literatures to examine the possible influence of the decision maker's characteristics on charity behavior from the perspective of corporate charitable giving behavior decision makers.The board of directors is one of the most important management organizations of the enterprise.As an interlocking director who also serves on the board of directors of two or more enterprises,it plays a vital role in the formulation and implementation of the company's strategy.Because enterprises can not carry out activities in a closed environment,they are looking for ways to cooperate with other organizations,through the network of interlocking directorates to make enterprises embedded in the social network,enterprises can pass and access all aspects of resources and information,and thus affect the decision-makers on the corporate charitable behavior of the cognitive methods and actions tilt,so that decision-makers can be more scientific perspective analysis of charitable donations,and ultimately affect corporate charitable donations.In view of this,this paper from the perspective of social networks,research on the relationship between the network of interlocking directorates and enterprise charitable donation behavior of private listed firm.By reviewing and combing the research about the interlocking directorates' network,enterprise charitable donation behavior.Based on the social network theory,resource dependence theory and institutional theory,select empirical research as the main research methods.And select the panel data of 651 private listed companies from 2012 to 2014 as research sample.Respectively from the orientation of relationship and position of the network of interlocking directorates,analysis the relationships between the characteristics of the network of the interlocking directorates and the philanthropy donation of private listed companies.The results indicate that the interlocking directors between enterprises,proportion of independent interlocking directors,density,degree and the structure hole significant positive impact on corporate charitable donations.The conclusion of this article is not only in theory suggests that the network of directors will also affect the charity behavior of the enterprise,also in the aspect of practice provides beneficial enlightenment for related policy.
