The Growth Model Of University Spin-off Company From The Perspective Of Relationship

Today,the State encourages people to start their own businesses and to make innovations.As the main mode which transfers the innovation technology and knowledge from the laboratory to the business community,USOs play an important role in economic development,and facing with the opportunities and challenges of the new era.In reality,the living conditions of USOs is uneven,some leading industry development,some growth in wave.However,they all can not escape the natural relationshipfrom their.There has also been a controversy about the relationship between them about strong or weak tie.But there are few studies explore the process of the growth of University spin-offs carefully,which with the characteristics of dynamic and stage.In the evolution of the relationship between USOs and their parent universities,explore the general rules and the internal motivation of the growth of the USOs,also has important guiding significance to the practice of USOs' development.From the perspective of dynamic research,this paper open the black box of relationship evolution of USOs and their parent university,and analyse the growth model of USOs deeply.First,this paper combs the relevant research about the growth and resources of USOs,as well as the relationship between USOs and parent universities.Then,on the basis of existing research,builts the analytical framework of three different kinds of USOs growth model through the analysis of the evolution relationship between USOs and their parent university.Measure the strength of the relationship between them with two dimensions:invested resources and cooperation,and the invested resources are divided into technical resources,human resources,material resources and management resources.Analyse the growth model of getting the necessary survival and development resources through communication and interaction with the parent university over time.Then,using case study method,take Neusoft,Founder,and Thunis for example,analyses the relationship evolution between a single case of USO and the parent university,reveals the growth model and factors of each case.Finally,through the cross case study,test the growth model of USOs and sum up the similarities and differences between different university growth model and the impact factors.Based on the above research work,the main conclusions are as follows:First,the growth model of USOs from the perspective of relationship is divided into three growth models,maintained-relationship growth model,fluctuated-relationship growth model,and weakened-relationship growth model.In maintained-relationship growth model,USOs maintain a close relationship with their parent university,forming a virtuous cycle of resources in the long term;fluctuated-relationship growth model and weakened-relationship growth model embedded industrial network step by step can enhance the enterprise's performance,but should pay attention to the internal management of enterprises,which may cause a negative impact,and keep in touch with parent university in order to get the related resources,to maintain long-term competitive advantage.Second,found the USOs growth pattern in common,namely in the stage of incubation,parent university invest resources comprehensively and deeply,moreover,management resource is one of the most important resources,which have an important impact on the conversion of technology resource,the cultivation of human resources and access to material resources.Through the establishment of USOs,parent university transfer scientific and technological achievements successful,USOs will also provide high returns to the parent university,feed the parent university in education career,and form the positive interactive development of them.Third,the academic entrepreneur,the parent university and the policy environment are the key variables that affect the evolution relationship between USOs and their parent.The national policy support universities spinning off the company,as well as a series of perfect policies,that verify the national level policy have an important impact on transformation activities of technological achievements,and establishment and development of USOs.Innovation of campus culture is the soil of the entrepreneurial spirit and cultivating innovative talents.For the management role of the parent university and the characteristics of the academic entrepreneur,need to combine the reality and dialectically observe the impact on the USOs.
