Since the establishment in 1996 of the Shanghai Five,on the basis of which the Shanghai Organization of Cooperation(SCO)was founded in 2001,the relevance of research on the activities of the Shanghai group has become increasingly acute. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the emergence of independent states in the space of Central Asia and Kazakhstan, with rich natural resources and strategic special transport and transit potential, the new geo-economic importance of the region now known as Central Asia(CA),has become apparent. Now the Central Asian region(CAR)is becoming an arena of rivalry of many international forces interested in the development of its potential. The research focuses on the fact that the collective economic cooperation in the SCO framework, although it has not taken all the obvious scale,is developing rapidly.Since the establishment of diplomatic relations within the countries of the then Central Asia and Kazakhstan,China is committed to a policy of expanding political and economic interaction with these young states. And the countries of Central Asia, having the opportunity to develop direct contacts with many countries of the earth and nurturing newly found sovereignty, considers China as a world political and economic power able to balance the regional influence of other major international actors. The paper conducts the most complete analysis of the assumptions, the current condition and the international context of trade and economic relations between China and Central Asian SCO member states on a number of important areas. The study provides characterization of the current geopolitical and geo-economic importance of the CAR,as well as an analysis of China's position on the review of the development of economic cooperation with Central Asian states. In this study, the main stages of modern Sino-Central Asian economic cooperation within the Organization have been identified and their contents disclosed.Hence, the basic problems of economic dialogue "China-Central Asia" have been revealed and possible ways to address them in the context of the SCO have been suggested. The research also provides a description of the importance of nearest environment SCO partner-Turkmenistan and observer countries of the Organization-in the development of economic cooperation in the Shanghai group.
