This thesis has selected a total of 205,152 records for loan applications taking place between May 2015 and June 2016 on a Chinese P2 P platform and conducted a study of the characteristics of loan applicants, including those who were successfully granted loans and those who ended up in overdue.Based on descriptive statistics, the thesis holds the position as follows.Applicants for P2P-based loans are mostly the groups not covered by traditional financial institutions.Female,married,higher-educated applicants as well as those with a steady job and income are prone to result in successful applications. The thesis has found that the sex, marital status, years in profession, and even location of a loan applicant have remarkable relevance to credit risk while the education level, income, type of profession only have a comparably smaller influence over credit risk. The thesis has specially pointed out the correlation between the type of a loan applicant and the risk for an overdue. The aforementioned conclusion will enrich the current researches and studies on the relation between the features of a loan applicant and credit risks. The findings will serve as valid statistical reference to risk control in the financial sector.
