With slow growth of world economy, fierce competition in the market, high cost,compressed profit margin, winter is coming for manufacturing industry. To improve enterprise's competitiveness, manufacturing companies start to improve management level,make controllable costs down. Cost for supply chain management is the key point to be adjusted, and inventory management is an important part in supply chain.For manufacturing companies who assemble facilities by orders, there will be normally a large range of materials which are used a few in each machine. If these materials are not managed reasonably, much capital will be occupied. Stock will decrease liquidity, isn't good for fund utilization rate. At the same time, there will be management cost, loss for scrap, etc.Large range and small required quantity make inventory management difficult. With the development of supply chain, temporal and spatial dimensions are enlarged, and this makes methods for inventory management more flexible. So how to make full use of supply chain management, consider company's situation, take advantage of useful resources and information of customers and suppliers, do effective management, increase management level for inventory, stock turnover and inventory accuracy, decrease occupied capital and dead stock, is an important issue for company.We take S company as investigated object, and optimize inventory management against the background of supply chain management. Inventory management under supply chain and tradition theories are quoted and summarized by citation index method. Then we analyzed current situation for S company's inventory management by enterprise diagnosis and empirical approach, classified the problems and solutions by analytic hierarchy process, give solutions for problems by quantitative and qualitative analysis. Finally, state the implementation model and operation effect, prove possibility of solutions and outlook and suggest for future management.Materials which required by S company are sorted, purchasing decisions and inventory controlling depend on material characteristics. Driving pattern of supply chain is improved creatively which make the supply chain management more efficiency and reduce management difficulty for inventory. Different purchasing decisions and inventory controlling are adopted according to material characteristics. Improve purchasing strategy according to inventory management strategy and methods. Make full use of supply chain,cooperate with vendors to improve the indexes of inventory management. Make inventory management of S company optimized.
