Due to the "One Belt One Road" policy,the middle-west region of China has been enhancing its opening-up and cooperation with the outside world,in effect this development has brought in increasingly more international families to this part of China.As a result,Chinese has become fashionable among Primary Years Progromme(PYP)of International Baccalaureate(IB world)schools.As the first IB world school authorized by International Baccalaureate Organization(IBO)in middle-west China,Xi'an Hanova international school's(HIS).PYP Chinese teaching follows both a typical and advanced model.This thesis takes Xi' an Hanova international school as a case study,with five chapters,to analyze PYP Chinese teaching.Chapter 1,the introduction,is about the reason and significance of study,current research studies,and research methods and concepts.Chapter 2 is on the information of IB,PYP,and HIS.Chapter 3 focuses on the PYP Chinese courses,teaching materials,teaching methods,and evaluation of HIS.Chapter 4 shows the author' s feedback and personal opinion for PYP Chinese teaching as an intern at HIS.The last chapter makes final conclusion based on this study.This is a first-hand-materials-based study,which draws its references from IBO data and the PYP curriculum,is guided by previous research studies and founded with PYP Chinese teaching in HIS.This study brings suggestions for solving the problems of HIS PYP Chinese teaching,also summarizes some tips for teaching Chinese as a second language to children from 6-12.The author hopes that this thesis can provide helpful resources for the field of teaching Chinese to kids.
