The purpose of this study is to improve the effect of the calculation of the area of combined graphics of the students' learning.In order to achieve this goal,the researchers have two research targets.The first target is to design and develop two kinds of Multimedia: “Animation + Narration”(AN)and “Animation + Text”(AT);The second goal is to detect whether the channel principle has an impact on students' academic performance and attitude when using multimedia to help the teaching of the calculation of the combined graphic area.The two kinds of multimedia courseware are designed and developed by the researchers with the help of Microsoft PowerPoint 2007(PPT)and Camtasia Studio.The development process of course can be roughly divided into 4 steps: 1.Selection of development platform;2.Studying the content of teaching materials and create design scripts;3.Collecting media material,and Create and design script;4.Modifying and debuging and running,and try out the promotion.The independent variable of this study is two kinds of Multimedia Courseware: “Animation +Nar-ration”(AN)and “Animation + Text”(AT),because variables are academic achievement and attitude achievement.The experimental samples are students of 4 classes in a primary school in Xuhui District of Shanghai.2 experiments were conducted in this study.and the subjects of each experiment were 2 classes.In each experiment,two classes of students were randomly assigned to one of the two multimedia courseware for about 30 minutes.The pretest and post-test data processing was used to analyze the collected data and the independent sample t test was used to analyze the differences between academic performance and attitude scores of two media types.The experimental results showed that the students who use “Animation + Narration ”(AN)media type get higher academic achievement than those who use “Animation + Text”(AT),but there was little difference between the two groups of students using “Ani-mation +Narration”(AN)media type and the use of “Animation + Text”(AT).This study confirms the great influence of the channel principle on the the calculation of the area of combined graphics of the students' learning;In addition,students have no obvious preference for two media types of software.
