The population is closely related to our production and life.According to the record on the related materials, there was a population of 13,533,923 in Xia Dynasty when it was founded in the 21 st Century BC.During the slavery times, the national population kept about 10 million. In the feudal times, the population grew rapidly, especially in the middle times of Qing Dynasty, the population able to be doubled every about 60 years. In the sixth year of Qianlong, namely in the year of 1741,the population registered was 143,411,559 in total, which was the first time that the total national population in Chinese history reached more than 100,000,000.In the 14 th year of Daoguang, namely in the year of 1834,the national population was 401,008,574 in total, increasing to the more than 400,000,000.During the modern times, because of the imperialism invasion, confused fighting between warlords and the people’s revolutionary movement, the national population suffered from the loss directly and indirectly,so the growth rapid of the population also declined.Until the foundation of the People’s Republic of China(PRC for short)in 1949,the population in the mainland was 551,670,000.After the foundation of the PRC,the national population grew rapidly and surpassed 1 billion in 1981.In the year of 2010,the national population reached 1,332,810,000 during the sixth population census.During the 61 years, the average annual growth of the population was about 12,800,000.The huge population has brought more and more press on the resource, environment and sustainable development, such as the excessive deforestation, forest destroy and even the destroy of farmland and arable land so as to promote the urbanization that has been reported for a lot of times in the newspaper currently, the haze and river pollution caused by the industrialization promotion so as to meet the human demand as well as a series of social problems including the rising housing price in the first and second class cities that has made many people especially the young people feel very frustrated.Although, during these period, especially after theReform and Opening in 1978,the state implemented the population and family planning policy in a foreseeing manner and got the very obvious achievements,a series of problems were caused because the optimal configuration of the population structure was not focused more and the simple amount increase or decrease was focused, such as the serious gender imbalance, aging speed being accelerated and the “demographic dividend” starting to disappear. In order to solve these problems, the state officially abolished the formerly “the only child” policy on Jan,1st,2016 and took a full implementation of the “two-child” policy, which could ease the imbalance of the population structure to some extent.Innumerous history experience proves that the equality, unity, autonomy and development of one country or among the regions and ethnic groups are the basis of the prosperity and steadiness of the country or regions. As one of the national 56 ethnic groups, most of the Dong people live in the remote countryside of Guizhou,Hunan,Guangxi,Sichuan and Hubei provinces.Although the production conditions and living standard have been improved a lot in the Dong regions because the state has implemented the Western Development and the estimated rising of the central China in the new phase of poverty alleviation policy and for recent years, and accelerated the supporting strength to the minority areas, they still face a large distance with the average standard of the national and minor ethnic groups in terms of the natural structure, social structure and regional structure of the population. Therefore, this article explains the characteristics and cause of the Dong population structure changes since the first population census in 1953 by collecting, organizing and analyzing the Dong people in the related data of the national six times of population census from the 1953 to 2010.Meanwhile,it makes the conclusion based on the analysis of the causes. It is thought that the Dong population will continue to increase but the growth rate slows in a period of the future. The gender imbalance will be eased and the social burden will be also reduced. The cultural quality will be improved and the population structure will be optimized.Meanwhile, the population migration will be active and urbanization rate will be improved.
