The advancement of curriculum reform of basic education has made greater requirements for the quality of bilingual teaching of mathematics in Tibet.However,it is a common phenomenon that the performance of Tibetan students’ mathematics is very poor,and the proportion of these students is very large.Since the implementation of bilingual teaching in Tibet,students have significantly improved the level of Chinese,but the ability of reading comprehension is still very poor,and it is one of the prime reasons to learn mathematics to feel difficult for Tibetan students.In order to implement the idea of new curriculum standard,and make students adapt the overall trend of lifelong learning,it is very important to study mathematical reading comprehension ability of Tibetan students.If the difficulty of mathematical reading comprehension of Tibetan students can be dealt with,their performance will be greatly improved,everyone gets good mathematical education and has different development in mathematics.Furthermore,it is helpful to achieve social harmony and stability by helping and taking good care of poor students in mathematics.This paper focuses on the following aspects:(1)understanding the difficulties of Tibetan students in mathematical reading comprehension;(2)analyzing the situation of importance to poor students in mathematics and mathematical reading from teachers in the process of teaching;(3)finding out the causes that poor students in mathematics read mathematical materials difficultly;(4)making the corresponding suggestions for the difficulties of poor students in mathematics;(5)trying to design the teaching case and from the perspective of teaching,provide guidance to the reading of poor students in mathematics,in order to improve effectively their mathematical level.This paper studies the status quo of mathematics reading of Tibetan students in mathematics in the background of bilingual teaching mode through these research methods such as document research,survey study and interview method.The following main problems are found:(1)the proportion of poor students in mathematics is very large,and they have mathematical language barriers,which mainly are mathematical language barriers to understand and convert.The main reason is that teachers don’t pay enough attention to mathematical reading and lack of consciousness.In addition,there exist major problems in students’ reading ability and methods;(2)There is a close relationship between mathematical meta-cognition and mathematical performance and Tibetan students’ mathematical meta-cognitive ability is very poor;(3)Tibetan students are better at solving the problems of language description than those about symbols and graphics.In regard to existing problems,the following suggestions are given:(1)improve the level of bilingual translation in Tibetan language and Chinese;(2)cultivate the ability of mathematical language comprehension of Tibetan students;(3)develop mathematics textbooks which are suitable for Tibetan native students;(4)instruct students to read Tibetan-Chinese bilingual materials regularly;(5)teachers should actively attend various types of training to improve their own comprehensive ability and attach importance to mathematical reading teaching.In the process of teaching,teachers should use mathematics textbooks flexibly and add to situational context teaching to improve students’ interest of learning mathematics.Moreover,teachers should regulate their own classroom language of instruction and reduce the teaching of key words.Finally,the case study is designed from the perspective of new lessons and exercises.The teaching case of the former one is position and direction and the latter one is solving age problem through the equation.Part of poor students in mathematics try to get the teaching of mathematical reading.By cultivating the habit of students’ mathematical reading habits and instruct students to read mathematical materials,poor students in mathematics effectively reduce the fear of mathematics and also learn some correct methods and skills of mathematical reading,which solve practical problems of mathematics helpfully.
