There's fierce competition among countries in this modern times,and the essence of competition lies in human talents.Human talents are closely related to education,which has strategical significance for a country's development.School education targets students.However,every student is an independent individual,which means one is different from the others.In this paper hierarchical teaching means that teaching is based on students' different intellectual levels and learning capacities,and in this teaching model students are parted into different groups.Teachers project different learning contents and teaching methods for different groups of students.Teachers apply proper incentive mechanism and assessment methods for different groups,and each student is being expected to gain maximum development and success.Being in long-term emotional experience with success can provoke students' self-efficacy positively,and therefore students can view their study and life in a more positive and optimistic way,which is quite helpful for them physically and psychologically.Some research methods such as document literature,experimentation,expert interview,mathematical statistics,logical analysis,are employed in this study,and it exams the influence on the self-efficacy of physical education majors which are brought by hierarchical teaching in gymnastics courses.Based on those test statistics of students' self-efficacy,gymnastics ability,and physical quality,the research divided students into elementary group,general group and advance group.Hierarchical teaching is applied in all the experimental groups for a semester while traditional teaching model is used in a control group.The two different teaching models work as independent variable while students' self-efficacy,gymnastics ability,physical quality work as dependent variable.The research shows that there's a distinct difference in students' self-efficacy between the test groups and the control group(p<0.05).Students' self-efficacy of the test groups is apparently higher than that of the control group(p<0.05),and this definitely proves that hierarchical teaching does much help in improving students' performance in gymnastics.In elementary group,and advance group,students' self-efficacy shows a change apparently before and after testing.And in general group there's no distinct change.Based on the study we propose that teachers know and understand students' characteristics,and enhance personal qualities and skills in teaching,create an easy and happy leaning atmosphere,encourage students to co-operate and help each other,and the comprehensiveness and inspirations of assessment should be emphasized,covering student' attendance,learning attitude,and improvement in grade.Flexible and practical teaching methods should be applied in accordance with the true situation in teaching,and at the same time innovation is also valued much.
