With the deepening of China's reform and opening up and the increasing development of higher education,colleges and universities are more and more concerned by the society,especially when the crisis events happen in colleges and universities.There are many kinds of university crisis events,such as terr orist attacks,fire,food-poisoning,the conflict between teachers and students,traffic accident,student suicide,epidemic disease,campus facilities damage,e xtortion,murder,explosion,school shootings,campus sexual assault.These cr isis events will threaten the normal work and may bring other adverse effects,including the discomfort and injury to the members of the university,damage to teaching facilities in colleges and universities,damage to the reputation of t he school image.The rapid development of the media technology has promoted the rapid a nd widespread dissemination of information.Sometimes a variety of media in tervention may enlarge the degree and range of the incident.In the event of a crisis,universities,the media and the public have mutual dependency and inse parable relation: firstly,colleges and universities rely on news media to infor m the public information and guide the public;secondly,the public depends o n the news media to understand the truth of university crisis events and all asp ects of information;thirdly,the news media are dependent on public reflect to strengthen effect on university crisis events and supervision,and it also depen ds on the college to get information about crisis events to meet the needs of th e public.This relationship is a dynamic equilibrium.In this dynamic balance,how to use the news media and the public communication is extremely import ant.
