At the present stage of volleyball teaching, the skill teaching method was used as the main teaching method at most, but that will weakened the tactics of teaching links invisible because of emphasis basic technology excessive,which will lead students to fusion technique and tactics ability is not enough. In fact, the ball games not only in addition to the athletes have good basic skills,but also pays attention to cultivate athletes temporary determination and tactical awareness. So, Teaching Games For Understanding is a method to realize this goal with the skills development and tactics training as the teaching emphasis at the same time. Teaching Games For Understanding aims to make students understand the basic tactics of ball games before they learn skills; have the tactical awareness that why they have to do this before they learn how to do this; the ball game project has formed a certain tactical awareness by students themselves before they learning skills. Using these tactics and skills can let the students choose the appropriate tactics and skills in the competition, so as to truly integrate into the games and experience the real fun of the project.The research of this teaching method has different meanings to the volleyball course. On the one hand, it can test the feasibility and effectiveness of this method, on the other hand, it can be used as a new way of thinking and theoretical basis for volleyball teaching.And the author collected a lot of data of the teaching experiment by adopting documentary, interview,questionnaire and symbolic stat through the analysis of all these data, and drew the main conclusion as follows:Firstly, Teaching Games For Understanding not only accord with the development of Mordern Volleyball Teaching but also improve the volleyball skills, tactical awareness and competition ability. However, there is no significant improvement in the performance of the students' Volleyball technical evaluation.Secondly, compared to the traditional teaching method, Teaching Games For Understanding has pay more attention to let students experience the fun of the project, every students can be presented their advantage in the game., and they could learn to experience and enjoy the game.Such teaching method embodies the comprehensiveness of teaching students with different technical level and psychological feature. The teaching effect is better than traditional teaching method.Finally, Teaching Games For Understanding can mix the interestingness, gameplay, collectivity and competitive together of volleyball by using teaching. And training their interest, bring the enthusiasm in to play by daily teaching. It's very helpful to improve the quality of teaching.
