Among the four basic skills of English study “Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing”,writing is the most difficult to master. It is unavoidable and common for students to make mistakes in their process of writing. Although both teachers and students have attempted to avoid mistakes in teaching and learning, the current situation of English writing in Senior High School is still inactive.In order to find out the main errors types in senior high school students’ English writing,the thesis was carried out by applying the theories of Mother language Transfer, Contrastive Analysis and Error Analysis.This essay makes a data analysis and categorizes on 80 Senior three students’ English writings in a senior high school in HeZe. The essay adopts literature reading method,questionnaire survey and interview method. Then the essay discusses the reasons committing such errors and advocates the Pedagogical enlightenment.The error analysis reveals that most of the errors made by the students in their writing are text errors, especially errors of verbs and nouns. The major causes of the errors involve lack of grammar knowledge, improper generalization of rules and the impact of the negative transfer of the native language.What’s more, there are some errors in student’s compositions which are made due to the student’s carelessness. All these errors reflected the importance of checking. In a word, the writer made some research about writing errors of senior high school students by the means of Contrastive Analysis, Mother Language Transfer and Error Analysis. On the foundation of these theories,this paper rethinks the foreign English teaching and writing in senior high school and advocates some useful advice for teaching English writing.
