Research On The Status Quo And Development Trend Of China's Online Diplomacy

The term “cyber diplomacy”appeared with the development of technology and the progress of information industry.It refers to the diplomatic activities conducted by international actors through network technology and platform for protecting their national interest.Compared with traditional model of diplomatic activities,cyber diplomacy has advantages in diversification,promptness and concealment.The rise of cyber diplomacy has a significant impact to both traditional diplomacy and the global pattern.China’s cyber diplomacy has made some encouraging improvements.For example,the rise of internet penetration rate,the development of cyber diplomacy strategy,the expanding of internet applications’ field,the improvement of government’s attention on cyber diplomacy,the strengthening of experts and scholars’ study,and the strongly support of the general public.But the development of cyber diplomacy in China has just started.The shortage of technology and irrational public hinder the development of cyber diplomacy.Meanwhile,the operation mode of China’s cyber diplomacy is monotonous and lots of participants lack the ability to communicate with foreigner.There’s still a long way for China’s cyber diplomacy to go.As the competitation of “Soft Power” in world community,China is facing a great chance to improve cyber diplomacy.But chances always come with threats.Therefore,China should strengthen imformation and network technology first and enhance public’s network literacy.The operation mode should be ameliorated.Besides,we need to combine tradition with network organically.These can help us improve our cyber diplomacy and protect national interests.
