| China government has adopted two public memorial related documents in 2014.Due to these two documents, public memorial for Nanjing Massacre’s victims has become National memorial Day and there are laws to abide by when commemorating martyrs. Under the impetus of country’s policies, public memorial for martyrs and Nanjing Massacre’s victims have been held by society and schools. Besides local governments also hold public memorial for cultural ancestors. However, as the main content and approaches of ideological and political education, education of public memorial fails to get enough attention. There are some main problems in educating the public memorial, such as schools pays much more attention on delivering students’basic knowledge than cultivating students’ introspection. Facing problems, strengthen the education of public memorial becomes important.Under the guidance of Marxism historical materialism and the theory of ideological and political education, this thesis studies the concept of public memorial and public memorial s education by means of literature research and conceptual analysis, and after that this thesis expounds contents and significances of public memorial education. Contents of public memorial education include the education of peace, patriotism and life’s value. Significances of public memorial ceremony’s education are reflected by its contents, such as enhancing socialist spiritual civilization construction, improving the work of ideological and political education, favoring nation’s cultural heritage. In order to have a better understanding of public memorial education, this thesis compares it to some other education which includes historical education, red education and patriotism education.After having a clear understanding of public memorial education’s contents and its significances, this thesis by using literature analysis to study China’s public memorial education’s current situation. Public memorial education of China has made some achievements such as establishing National Memorial Day and publishing public memorial education books. However, there still are some main problems during developing the education of public memorial. These problems are the complexity of public memorial ceremonies, uneven developing of public memorial education and lacks the spirits of times for public memorial education’s contents. Reasons of causing those problems mainly comes from the negative impacts of society’s environment, exam-oriented education and less concern of public memorial education.Finally, this thesis has found that only by strengthen the society and schools’influence can we improve the current construction of public memorial education.For society, we can make a better cultural environment, better mass environment and better police circumstance to strengthen public memorial education. As for the school, we can focus on its educational ways, scientific researches and teaching staffs. |
