The Internal Mechanism Of Public Art Has Triggered The Impact Of Urban Catalysts Since The 1990s

The public art and the city have always been closely linked.The core of thepublic art is derived from the "public" character of the public,and the public is theuser and builder of the city,and thus being the main body of it.Due to such ring typelink chain among the "city",the "public" and "public art",the public art and the cityare interdependent and can promote each other.The public art of contemporarysignificance and form originated in the early twentieth Century.After thedevelopment and evolution of nearly a century,many changes have taken place in theconcept,content and form of it.Especially in the 1990s,not only had the theory andpractice of public art itself entered a new stage of development,but its relationship:with the city was further promoted as well."Intervention" represents a state of progressive process and with interferencefunction while "experiment" means a new attempt and uncertainty.The introductionof the public art into the urban development transformation plan is like an"experiment" that introduces art into the urban laboratory.With the continuousdevelopment of urban renewal process,the public art plays an increasingly evidentrole in urban transformation.This paper intends to answer questions including"whether public art can trigger urban catalyst effect" and "how it triggers urbancatalyst effect" by taking the urban catalyst effect as the breakthrough point,makinguse of systematic,logical and empirical research methods and so on and the analysisand study of the typical cases of public practice after 1990s and explore the keymechanism by which public art triggers the urban catalyst effect.
