Discourse marker is a common linguistic phenomenon in linguistic communication and plays an important role in discourse guiding.It can maintain linguistic consistency and motivate discourse understanding by grasp effectively the distribution and use of discourse marker.According to the practice value of studies on discourse marker,more and more scholars pay attention to and are devoted to this study.When reading the literature relating to the discourse marker researches,it has found that in this sort of researches most of scholars adopt qualitative analysis as their main method,but the quantitative analysis based on the corpus is less used.At the same time,among the researches relating to the corpus,the previous scholars usually regarded general corpus as their target of studies and did not pay more attentions to comparative studies about different genres and interdisciplinary.Basing on research status about discourse marker,this paper aims to study the application status about discourse markers among different subjects in the speech genre.By adopting the research methods basing on the corpus and comparative analysis,it analyzes the situation of application of the discourse markers in TED speech among arts,medicine,maths and economics,especially the applying frequency,the type of use and functional effect of discourse markers and the differences of use of discourse markers among different subjects.This study not only can enrich the research findings to provide the data supports for the studies relating to the discourse markers,also can demonstrate the natives' real use condition of the discourse markers in the speech genre when they are doing the speech about different subjects,which can supply the valuable experiences about the discourse markers to the Chinese learners.
