Study On The Idioms Of Zhenchuan Dialect

From the geographic perspective,Jin dialect can be divided into five zones:Shanxi Jin dialect,Shanbei Jin dialect,Inner Mongolia Jin dialect,Henan Jin dialect and Hebei Jin dialect.Zhenchuan dialect which is part of Shanbei Jin dialect belongs to Wutai part of Jin dialect.The significance of the study of Zhenchuan dialectal idioms is like:it could provide new corpus resources for the study of Shanbei Jin dialect,it is helpful to the cultural studies in Shanbei and the pragmatic study,it is useful to deepen the understanding of dialectal idiom.Taken the idioms in Zhenchuan dialect as the research subject,I will describe,analyze and discuss their background,forms of structure,rhetorical features,cultural connotation and compare Zhenchuan dialectal idioms with dialectal idioms in other areas.The town of Zhenchuan which attaches to Yulin City in Shaanxi province has a long history,a dense population and a strong economy.As a number of dialectal idioms,Zhenchuan dialectal idioms which are used in spoken language of Zhenchuan have a fixed structure and a condensing meaning.The structures of Zhenchuan dialectal idioms can be divided into four types:combined type,derived type,overlapping type and "ge"word type.And more detailed classifications are given under these four types.The combined type includes united type and non-united type.The derived type includes root+suffix type,root+infix+suffix type,and root+infix+root type.The overlapping type includes nominal structures,verbal structures,adjective structures,adverbial structures and onomatopoetic words.The "ge" word type includes "ge"ABC type,"ge"A"ge"B type,and AB"ge"C type.From the phonetic features of Zhenchuan dialectal idioms,their syllable-timed rhythm presents two-character to two-character mode.The collocation of level tone and oblique tone have many forms.And of which the level-level-oblique-oblique type and oblique-level-oblique-oblique type have strong distribution in Zhenchuan dialectal idioms.From the semantic features of Zhenchuan dialectal idioms,the Zhenchuan dialectal idioms have the advantage of describing and abundant synonymy.Some of Zhenchuan dialectal idioms have more or less derogatory sense.Zhenchuan dialectal idioms are full of cultural connotations,such as food culture,weather culture,aesthetic notion,transport culture,social communication and good or bad atmosphere.This paper compares Zhenchuan dialectal idioms with dialectal idioms in other places of Jin dialect zone,such as Shenmu,Suide,Wubu,Ordos and Xinzhou,in order to find the commonalities and diversities between them.There are a lot of common dialectal idioms in Jin dialect zone.A variety of factors like different modified morphemes,different structures or different affixes make dialectal idioms of Jin dialect zone which have the same or similar meaning different.There are a few dialectal idioms of Jin dialect zone with the same words but different meanings in different dialects.This paper also compares Zhenchuan dialectal idioms with dialectal idioms of Mandarin dialects,such as Beijing dialect,Xi’an dialect and Chengdu dialect.There are some similarities as well as some differences in Zhenchuan dialectal idioms and Beijing dialectal idioms.There are some of the same dialectal idioms which have the same affixes in Zhenchuan dialect and Yi’an dialect.The "ge" word type dialectal idioms are more abundant in Jin dialect zone than in Xi’an dialect.There are abundant A eyebrow C eye type dialectal idioms in both Zhenchuan dialect and Chengdu dialect and each has its own characteristics.
