How Confucius was Tempered—Life Class of the Analects of Confucius vividly interprets Confucius and his thoughts and the fourth and the fifth chapter respectively introduce Confucius' wearing and strict etiquette standards on diet.The report,taking the Chinese-English translation of chapter 4 and chapter 5 as an example,solved such problems of the Chinese culture translation as the translation of Chinese idioms,the translation of “shi” expressive structure and the translation of book titles using literal translation,free translation,amplification,annotation,etc.The author hopes to provide reference for the translation of historical and cultural books,especially the translation of the Confucian culture.The paper will also help foreign readers know more about Confucian culture.
