On Chapter 42 Of Laozi

Laozi a book recorded the thought of philosopher Laozi at the Pre-Qin period was an important professional monograph in Chinese history.In the mean time,it was the main origins of thoughts of Taoism,which was regard as the Bible of Taoism and Tao religion.There were two parts in Laozi.The first part was called Tao Ching and the second part was Te Ching.But at the old time,it had been got together as a whole one.Afterwards,it was divided into two parts including 81 chapters in total in which involved such extensive realms as philosophy,politics,health and well-being etc.Therefore,generations of philosophers,thinkers,scholars concentrated on this book and there were many essays and academic books have been published searching for its profound mystery,especially within the field of Laozi's cosmology.This essay targeted on the 42 nd chapter of Laozi: ‘Tao produce one,one produce two,two produce three' by arranging the commentary in the past and tried to illustrate what ‘one,' ‘two',‘three' was,respectively and the different relationships between them;To expound theory evidence about practicing Taoism.There were five parts in this essay.The first part explained LaoZi's cosmology by analyzing other scholars at the Pre-Qin period,which can help us comprehended the general view of cosmology at that time and cosmology theory of Lao Zi.The second part went through studies of all the significant scholars who researched on the 42 nd chapter.The third part was central part of this essay.It had three sections: firstly,discussed how they,annotators hold the theory of ‘Wu',explain the Tao;Secondly,discussed how they,annotators hold the theory of ‘Qi',explain the Tao;Thirdly,discussed how they,annotators hold the theory of ‘Li',explain the Tao.This process of exploring was helpful to understand the idea of Taoism by analyzing significant scholars in history who studied and researched on his theory in 42 nd chapter of Laozi and revealed generative process of Laozi's cosmology.It is also helpful in understanding the quintessence of Taoism philosophy: a quintessence that fused Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism gradually together.Besides,it benefited us understanding the theory of practice Taoism,Buddhism and Confucianism and the value orientation regarded the ‘Tao' as the core.
