Chinese English Translation Of Chinese Language And Its Countermeasures

Museum is the treasure house of human history and culture,it recorded the development of society and the widsom of human beings.In order to show traditional Chinese cultureto the world better,many museums in China use Chinese-English translation texts to express culture and explain cultural relics.The Chinese-English translation texts isconvenient for foreign visitors,andit isalsoa significant method for the foreign visitors to study Chinese history and culture.Therefore,the translationquality of the museum texts directly influences thecommunication between Chinese and western country.However,the Chinese-English translation texts of museum in China has many problems nowadays and this could have great impact on the communication between Chinese and foreign country.In this paper,by studying the language translation problems in Chinese museum,and based on English translation theory of cross-cultural communication theory,skopos theory and theory of domestication and foreignization,the writer want to create a Chinese-English translationmodel which can be used in museums of China.In China’s museums,there are many translation errors of the textsincluding the spelling mistakes,grammar mistakes,malposition of the words,inconsistency,omission of the key information and mistranslation of the important information and so on.So the author finds that there are four translationmethods could be used in Chinese-English translation: transliteration plus explanation,literal translation,free translation plus explanation,and explanation translation.These four methods can cut down the mistakes of Chinese-English translation texts.In this paper,the author want to offer a model which museums can use to enhance the communication of China and western countries,and to arise an in-depth study by both domestic scholars and western scholars.
