Ling Waj Dai Da is a historical note written by Zhou Qufei in the southern Song dynasty.As an early historic material of Lingnan area with relatively complete content,Dai Da has recorded local conditions and customs as well as unique resources and products in Guangdong and Guangxi areas. This paper has defined the research direction and research object through the analysis of the corpus nature of the book: carrying out reviews of the words defining regional feature.From the view of vocabulary construction, Dai Da is based on classical Chinese words, containing elements of common language in certain extent as well as some forms of Kam-Tai languages and southern dialects. The classical Chinese words in the book were mainly from previous literature, while a small part of the other emerged in the period of Tang and Song dynasties. The spoken words were selected from common language which was widely used while dialects and vulgarisms were excluded. The amount of' the words of southern dialects and minority languages is less, however, as history of the language,it still has its value.In general, as a work in the style of the ancients, the book is characterized by a strong classical Chinese,having a low degree of colloquialism, which result in limited value of research. But on the other hand, Dai Da has kept a number of words that reflected local conditions and customs as well as unique resources and products in Lingnan area, which has high research value.As a local record base,d on field visit,Dai Da has kept a batch of noun words reflecting natural objects in Lingnan area. The special regional feature embodied in and the form of Kam-Tai languages and southern dialects included in these words is with high corpus value. Besides,a certain number and scale of noun words makes it possible to summarize its regularity.In addition, the cultural-loaded words included can illustrate the corpus value of the book as well. Language is the carrier of culture, we can find out humanistic and historical connotation embodied in cultural-loaded words. The the cultural-loaded words in Dai Da have clearly reflected social life in Linan as well as social system and concepts in the historical background. We will divide them into words of folklore and words of history, and then unearth the internal cultural element.
