Junior High School Students' Perception Of Parental Conflict And Its Impact On Emotions: The Regulation Of Peer Attachment Quality

The mental health of the teenager is always focused by the public.It can be influenced by the home environment and atmosphere which are proved by many studies.The parental conflict is one of the most important variables in the home environment which can directly influence the home atmosphere.The parental conflict can indirectly influence the mental health of the teenagers through the mental health of the parents,the teenagers' attachement to parents,the teenagers' cognitive evaluation to the parental conflict.In order to figure out the relationship between parental conflict and teenager's emotion,this study adopt IPPA,PANAS and CPIC to make an investigattion into 363 students at grade 6 to grade 8 at three schools in Shanghai.Considering the background information such as gender,grade and family status,the results are showed below:1.The teenagers' perception of parental conflict decrease by years.The boys' conflic content perception is significantly higer than girls';the conflict intensity perception of the girls at grade 6 is signicicantly higher than the girls at grade 7;the conflict threat perception of the boys at grade 7 is singnificantly higher than the boys at grade 6 and grade 8.2.The home atmosphere and the education level of parents can influence the teenagers' perception on the preception of parental conflict.In summary,the higer education level the parents have and the better the home atmosphere is,the less conflic perception can be feeled by the teenagers,or,they will feel more conflic perception.3.The teenagers' perception on parental conflic is significantly related to their positive and negative emotion.This study find that teenagers' emotion is influeced by parental conflict which can make them feel upset,ashamed,frightened from the interview.4.The high peer attachment quality can regulate the relationship of the conflic'attribution and teenager's emotion.The postive emotion of the teenager who has high quality of peer attachment that attribute parental conflict to stable reason is low,conversely,it's high.
