Research On The "Qingdao Hai's Mistakes" From The Perspective Of Natural History

CATALOG OF MARINE CREATURES COLLECTED IN THE QING PALACE is a book published by editing catalogue Huang Nie drawing,which is sole his work still known to be in existence.This paper studies from four aspects,including the category of the 'Marine creatures',writing background,image analysis and naming methods,which is aim to discuss that the reason of drawing,the definition and classification The heterogenesis idea influencing,the influence of identity on writing motivation and writing style,differences of Western style painting and Chinese traditional painting in performance,and the root cause of these difference.Positivism has a profound influence on Huang Nie,it leads him to be careful.Huang Nie not only researchs on ancient books but also wanders around the Chinese coastal city for physical observation.He has a few like-minded friends,which help him collect anecdotes.The heterogenesis idea led to his worship of the sea,and his own unique of the ocean.The heterogenesis idea was originally a Taoist theory used to explain the origin of species.Therefore,Huang Nie believed that the oceans contain everything.The sea is the living space of the realistic and non realistic species.These species form a hierarchy of ecological systems in which the dragon is the most distinguished.The general features of the western museum is that animals and plants are divided into different parts when they are painted.Huang Nie also adopted this method.In addition,his personal style of color and shade is inconsistent with the style of traditional Chinese painting.Although he absorbed the western painting techniques to make his paintings beyonding the predecessors to a certain extent,but he can not build a set of their own system on biological classification.To sum up,Huang Nie already has a certain knowledge of western natural history,but the purpose of his painting is still dominated by the traditional concept of natural history.He learned the Western way of image representation for positivism,but he did not explore the world in the way of Western Experimental Science.He still retains the academic tradition of believing in everyday experience.
