The objects of study of this paper are Chinese verb-direction constructions(动趋式)and Italian phrasal verbs.They both have basis on the concept of movement in the eye of cognitive perception.Made sure that them are conceptually comparable,the most relevant outcomes of this paper are:1)Italian phrasal verbs can express the meaning of Chinese directional verbs;2)can express the directional meaning of Chinese verb-direction constructions;3)can’t express the extensional meaning of Chinese verb-direction constructions.The whole analysing process is taken following the theory of Talmy’s typology of languages and adopting the semantic structure analysis methodology.This paper contains six parts:Preamble.It explains the meaning and the target of this research,it gives the state of art on this subject,it introduces the research field,method and main innovative points.In the first chapter there is a comparison between Chinese and Italian on the way them express the concept of movement,including the way to use direction in metaphor,in order to assure their comparability in motion events,especially to define the comparability between Chinese verb-direction constructions and Italian phrasal verbs,albeit Talmy’s typology of languages categorizes these two languages into opposite types(satellite-framed language for Chinese and verb-framed language for Italian).Outcomes:the way to express motion event of the two objects of study is highly comparable in structure and meaning,but in metaphorizing direction they only share structure features.In the second chapter there is a comparison analysis on expression of voluntary and caused motion events between Chinese directional complements and Italian phrasal verbs.Outcomes report that Italian phrasal verb are capable of express Chinese directional complement used in voluntary and caused motion events.There is also a contrast translation table between Chinese directional complements and Italian phrasal verbs.In addition,there is a method to help Italian students in understanding caused motion events express by Chinese disposal sentences.In the third chapter there is the corresponding way to express Chinese complex directional verbs in Italian and the explanation of different usage of verbs 来 and 去in the two languages.Thanks to the application of the meaning coupling mechanism was getted a way to discern the directional and extensional meaning of Chinese verb-direction constructions.At last,using the grammar explanation and examples on the extensional meaning of Chinese complex directional complement extracted from"Chinese bridge" textbooks,there is the way to express some of them in Italian,because sometimes thi is not possible.In the fourth chapter,on the basis of the research outcomes,is given some advices on the teaching of Chinese verb-direction constructions to Italian students.In the conclusion there is a recap of all the most outcomes of the research and the shortcomes of the paper.
