Media Position And The Study Of The Diversity Of Literature In The Late Qing Dynasty

In the late Qing Dynasty,the modern Chinese newspaper which was different from the ancient Chinese newspaper appeared.As a new media,the modern Chinese newspapers and periodicals had an impact on the evolution of Chinese literature.Study in the newspapers and magazines which were emerged in the late Qing Dynasty,we can find that the appearance of the all kinds of newspapers and magazines were based on the media position.The difference of media position led to the differences of the newspapers' form,content,ect.Also the differences of media position let to the differences of literary works which published in the newspapers.Therefore,the object of this study is late Qing newspaper and the literature of this newspaper.It mainly summarizes the four important media positions in the late Qing Dynasty and discussing them chapter by chapter.The introduction is a brief overview of the lately research findings and the significance of the research the scope of the research object and so on.The main body of the paper is from four aspects: the missionary newspapers and periodicals,the reformist newspapers and periodicals,the conservative newspapers and periodicals,the businessmen newspapers and periodicals,and the tabloid newspapers.The first chapter is about the religious position of western missionaries.In the late Qing,the group of missionaries was the first group to started Chinese newspapers and magazines.They were influenced by their native language in the process of using Chinese to writing or translating.Bring the Europeanized flavor for Chinese literature in the late Qing Dynasty.In the fable,translated novels,pomes,they made some new practices and breakthrough.The second chapter is about the political position of reformists.The reformists started their newspaper business followed by the group of missionaries.Also they are the first group to setting up the Chinese independent newspaper.Inspired by the missionary press,they realized the role of the press in the dissemination of new thought.They used newspapers and periodicals to publish political essays,pomes and novels,trying to mix the political thought into them.Therefore,it brought new changes to the newspaper literature.The third chapter is about the academic position of the conservative quintessence school.Differencing the Westernization trend of the late Qing Dynasty,conservatives argued that preserving the quintessence of Chinese culture.Their official publications reflected the retro tendency.Their publications promoted the poetry and parallel prose retro revival,also enriching the form of literature in the late Qing Dynasty.The fourth chapter is about the commercial press and the leisure tabloid of the merchant's business position.For the chase of interests,in their press,entertainment literature was the most important part.In order to cater to the readers of middle and lower classes,they highlighted the entertainment of secular and urbanization in the selection of the content of the literature.Their newspapers and magazines added the urban atmosphere for the literature in the late Qing Dynasty.Each position of the newspaper media activities had different purpose.Missionary newspapers and periodicals' main purpose was missionary.The reformist was intended to promote the political ideals.The essence of the school focused on the preservation of the national spirit to stimulating the national spirit.Businessmen were always aimed at the acquisition of interests.All the intentions based on the basic professional ethics.The standpoint of this paper is the newspaper media position of late Qing Dynasty.This research mainly adopts the methods of literature research,literary theory and communication theory.This paper is combing and summarizing the intentions,affirmations and ideas of the main kinds of the newspapers and periodicals in the late Qing Dynasty.Literary works produced by different media position in the Qing Dynasty were analyzed in theory.This paper makes a theoretical analysis of the literary works produced in the different position of the late Qing Dynasty.And it makes a comprehensive and clear study of the diversity and modernization process of the literature in the late Qing Dynasty.This paper also summarizes the cause and effect relationship between the media positions of the late Qing and the characteristics of the literary diversity.It is hope that through the discussion of these chapters,we can carry out a more comprehensive analysis and exposition of several important media positions in the late Qing Dynasty.On this basis,the paper summarizes the diversity characteristics of the literature in this age and the characteristics of the transformation of the literature in late Qing to the modern literature.
