The Application Of Grammatical Succinct Strategy In Chinese-English Communication

This thesis takes the C-E consecutive interpretation of the premier’s meeting with the press as an example,exploring the specific strategies used to simplify the grammatical structure of the target language.If the interpreter manages to apply the strategy of brevity in grammar,the efficiency of interpretation will be improved.This thesis contains three parts,including the definition and classification of the strategy of brevity in grammar,the necessity of employing this strategy and the application of it.The strategy of grammar brevity is comprised of brevity in wording and syntactical structure.From these two perspectives,this thesis explores the necessity and the application of employing this strategy by comparing the interpretation of Zhang Lu and that of the author.In this process the author has improved her own interpreting capability by comparing the two versions,analysing and summing up some useful experience,with an attempt of having some instructive effect on the later C-E consecutive interpretation practice.
