Santayona is a famous naturalist in the United States,based on his own philosophy,and strive to build a new aesthetic system.He changed the tradition of the previous analysis of aesthetics only from the perspective of epistemology,inspired by naturalistic psychology,James's pragmatism and the theory of Royce,the development of Aristotle's ethics and the concept of Spinoza's naturalism,set up a unique aesthetic ideology.he changed the tradition of previous analysis of aesthetics from the perspective of epistemology,he stands under the naturalistic aesthetic thought,to study aesthetics from the perspective of modern physiology and psychology.His pleasure theory not only plays an important role in his aesthetic thoughts,but also plays a very important role in the development of Western aesthetics.in order to get a better understanding of Santayona's naturalistic aesthetic thoughts,this thesis is based on Santayona's theory of pleasure.this article reviews the theory of pleasure in the history of philosophy,And the distinction between pleasure and beauty,based on the in-depth analysis of the philosophical foundation of his theory of pleasure,then the connotation and the operation mechanism of Santayana made further explain the theory of pleasure,Finally,discusses the historical significance and limitations of his theory of pleasure.
