A total of 186 adverbs of time in the dream of Red Mansions(the last 40chapters)which are 68 monosyllable adverbs of time,112 disyllable adverbs of time,6 polysyllable adverbs of time.Most monosyllable adverbs follow ancient,medieval Chinese.A few are generated in modern times such as plolysyllable adverbs of time.From the way of adverbs of time used,they have developed well in the "dream of Red Mansions"(the last 40 chapters).The adverbs of time in the dream of Red Mansions(the last 40 chapters)have strong inheritance,reflecting the inheritance of Chinese vocabulary and certain expansibility.The disyllabic form of time adverb is obvious,which conforms to the whole law of Chinese development.It is obvious there is a disylybic trend in adverbs of time accoding with the whole development of Chinese Some new words appear in the system of adverbs of time such as "mengkeli","lengbufang" etc.There are more polysemies in monosyllable than disyllabic adverbs of time.Many disyllabic adverbs of time have the same origin.Some of them developed from monosyllabic word.Single and double syllable adverbs are different in frequency.Monosyllabic adverbs of time are nearly 2 times more than disyllabic adverbs of time.
