In the recent times, A phenomenon, which can be called "Religion Boom" is more clearly developed in China, the number of religious believers are constantly rising, and the relevant policies of the Party and the country also more open to religion, the role of religion in certain societies also ask for more recognition. As a foreign religion, Christianity has experienced several ups and downs, but also ushered in a new spring. This paper starts from the perspective of religious architecture visual culture, using five-star Xi’an Catholic Church as an example, analyzing the role of religious buildings in the visual culture of religious communication:what informations it has spread, what kind of features have been showed from it’s spreading,what kind of role has Catholic Church played in Christianity communication?In this regard, the author analyzes Catholic visual culture propagation through three ways:external visual characteristics of the church, internal decorations and the process of the Catholic rites. Those three elements include almost all of the Catholic Church of visual culture focused content. At the same time, it can be said almost all religious buildings visual culture are also mainly demonstrated in these points, therefore, these points in religious buildings visual culture is also very representative.Through analysis of these three points, the author concludes:Contents of church visual culture communication focuses on faith in the supremacy of the object’s emphasis; the propagation function is to make religion more popular; its propagation characteristics is fully absorbed elements of Chinese traditional culture, fully committed to the "Western integration." Religious architecture is also an intermediary, religious ceremonies is certainly very important, but its role as intermediary played was more extensive.Church under visual culture propagation of these to China to spread culture has inspired some effect, especially in the moment, China’s "National Study" in foreign countries is also highly sought after, the lessons within our Church spread, and can help our country culture better spread out. |
