European medieval art is major rooted in the art of the Christian faith. Manuscripts books are the main way of the spread of European medieval Christian civilization. Manuscripts book illustrations are a kind of bible or gospel illustrations which drawn on parchment are abnormal delicate and also very unique as an artistic phenomenon at that time. The manuscript paintings of the Middle Ages show the characteristics of the medieval Christian art incisively and vividly, and it's a perfect combination of Christian faith with illustration arts.Manuscripts illustrations recorded the humanistic history and natural things which have strong adornment effect, and these colorful illustrations rigorous painted on parchment, which the decoration in it have high research value. People can through the exquisite manuscript illustrations to see the essence of the art of painters, and see their appetite for the Christian faith.This article is after systematically combed on historical evolution, theme, style change and symbolic patterns of manuscript illustrations, and try to analyze and explore the adornment of the manuscript illustrations works of the Mid Ages. The author hopes to be able to better understand the medieval manuscript illustrations' decorative art characteristic through the specific research, and absorb the valuable experience in traditional manuscript illustrations in order to guide the practice of graphic design.
