Dream Around The City-state

In the opera art, the singing of performers and music as mainline throughout the whole opera play an important role in creating characters and developing story plots. Audiences who watch opera performance are needed to pay their attentions to the singing of opera singers and music to appreciate musical aesthetic feeling. Chinese Pingju opera version of The Oresteia not only perfectly integrates Grecism and Chinese opera’s connotation and aliveness into costumes, makeup and stage setting, but innovates the music of Pingju opera by adding digital band to music accompaniment. Digital band is involved in opera sound with various modern music elements, which elaborately depicts the overall ambience of the play and brings more auditory enjoyment to audiences. It is believed that a new style of Chinese Pingju opera is created.Based on studying music of Chinese Pingju opera version of The Oresteia and its musical forms of expression, this thesis aims at finding the combination mode of technology of digital music and traditional opera. The thesis is also to explore regularity and summary methods about different technologies of digital music for different themes of opera music in a bid to apply them into composition of opera music and its performance on stage to achieve preferable music effects.
